There's Always A Bye-Bye Somewhere

OK chill. I haven’t turned this blog into some socio political one, neither am I dipping my foot into the politics. It’s the election season and everyone’s digging out their tricks and antics to woo you over to their camp. My job, and I assume yours too, is not to preach which camp is better and which is not, because either way they are equally bad that I’ll leave it to your own good judgement; rather I just want to do my part in spreading the real pictures about the state of our country this time of the year. Maklumlah, our news are so filtered, I don’t see how useful the newspapers are other than to wrap fish. >(

Yeah yeah I noticed what a mean butch beast I’ve turned into but I’m just really angry! For all the blatant lies our so called leaders are feeding us with, and all the threats they so freely throwing at us, and the chemical laced water and tear gasses they so generously shoot us with at anytime they want, even in the presence of children! And they detained an 11- year-old girl who just wanted to present roses to (gargh! I’m really tempted to call him by his net nick!) the PM! Urgh! (I've lost most of the links I want to link up here, malas mau re-research, but you can verify what I'm saying by googling 'em. You'll get plenty of returns.)

And then come election, use (our tax) money, mandarin oranges, and plastic smiles to buy the people’s vote. Oh and suddenly they spearhead nothing but education and education is of utmost importance and hey here’s an allocation of education fund by the thousands (which we’ll never give you if it’s not for GE!), take it to raise up the lil ‘uns. Let’s not even go the house of worships department, if you know what I’m saying!

And you know what’s the best thing? People buy it! People actually buy those candies! I mean, sure, candies are put before your eyes, takkan don’t eat right? But after you suck on them and get all sugar-high, and then what? Nothing but decaying tooth!

Joh! So angry lah! >(((

So angry because I now know the truth. Do you?

My to-do list at work and other commitment is getting a little bit out of hand. There’s 2 types of workers, either they make or break under pressure. If you haven’t notice, I’m of the latter category T_T I’ll need to constantly remind myself and tell myself "ok, leishia, this' not the end of the world; everything can be done under proper planning. So plan." So I’ll sit down and breathe (no kidding) and meditatively take out a pen and my organizer (which will never last more than 4 months before you see papers of all sizes being strewn across the table), and started listing down what needs my attention, and then prioritize them by numbering. On an average good day, my world will only come to an end by the 4th hour.

Sent a baby girl off yesterday. Everyone cried her a river :’(

Hey you,

I don’t know why lah can be so emo even though knowing you’ll be back like in 10 months time or so, and besides, not like we’ve known each other for ages right? But replying your sms in the car also made me cried. I was seriously on a roll =.= But the fact that we haven’t been friends for long doesn’t mean this baby friendship means nothing (to me lah), it’s really an honour for me to have a friend like you, you’re just so…. Gladys! You know, a little ditsy, a little duh, a little girly, a little boyish, but a lot of joy and positive vibes. Thanks for rubbing some off to me :) Take care now and send my regards to your mom (yes! I transcend generations!) and BLOG lah woman please! Zzz.

This is really disturbing…

PETALING JAYA: Police have stopped the house-to-house search for missing girl Sharlinie Mohd Nashar due to the general election but will continue if new leads surface.

The 1,100 police personnel involved in the search have been deployed for the election.

Open Your Eyes Big Big

See the statistics! See the figures! See for yourself! YOU, ME, ALL OF US are part of this mess that is our country. This concerns YOU, ME, ALL OF US even if we are not into politics. People, please lah! It just makes me so angry every time people tell us that they “are not into politics,” “we have no choice,” “but the YB so and so came and shook hand with us and gave us oranges woh,” “I don’t care. Let them go fight till cows come home lah. It doesn’t concern me,”

Wtf! Might as well give up your citizenship and move to the jungle. Wait, I think even that also you need to apply for permit to build a humble hut on a small humble piece of land that our greedygohmen claims ownership of. And pay cukai taksiran. T__T

So what has 50 years of 2/3 majority given us?
- The Malaysian Constitution has been amended some 690 times. The USA has been in existence for more than 200 years and their constitution was only amended 27 times.

- The Constitution is amended for matters as trivial as extending the term of office of the Elections Commission officers, simply to avoid facing rejection by the Agung.

- Because of the overwhelming power available to the Executive, the Legislature has been reduced to a rubber stamp, the Judiciary has been emasculated and corrupted and the powers of the Agung have been clipped.

- The legal system is a sad joke, serving only further the desires of the ruling clique.

- The Elections Commission serves only to ensure that the ruling clique is returned to power.

In the last election, Barisan Nasional received only 63.8% of the popular votes but has 91% of all parliamentary seats. All due to gerrymandering, phantom votes, voter relocation, voter substitution… there are even suspicions of ballot box stuffing.

UMNO received 35.9% of the popular votes, has 50% of the parliamentary
seats and holds 71% of the ministerial positions. The other members of the
coalition have been reduced to running dogs, wagging their tails and begging for
scraps.

Little Napoleons have been allowed to run rife and the rights of non-Malay, non-Muslim communities have been trampled upon. The Wakil Rakyat do nothing even when constitutional amendments threatening these rights are proposed. It is left to the opposition members to highlight these alarming matters and try to prevent total steamrolling.

Meanwhile, it’s not like the rights of all Malays are really being addressed…

How much more of this can we take? How much more of this should we take?

Change may not necessarily be better.

But without change, it is not possible to become better.

If we want to become better, we must want change.

It is time the 2/3 majority in parliament is dismantled.

We hold that power.

March 8: Have You Registered?

poster taken from get-an-mp

Do you not know, that where a single party, or person, controls 2/3 or more of Parliament, there is no longer any protection from the Constitution? That 2/3 is all that is needed to amend, change, delete the provisions therein, and then it will be the highest law in the land… For there is no one in Parliament who can keep this from
happening, who can help us.

Our YB’s - no matter how responsible/honest/principled/well-meaning
they are (if they are) - they are bound by Party Discipline, they can only
vote along party lines or face severe personal and political repercussions.

They do not dare to speak out. They will not speak out.

And those that do, the few courageous, and the few Oppositions…their small voices are washed out by the sheer number of those that mock, ridicule, ignore, eject, suspend, criticize, judge, sue, imprison - with impunity.

Xin Nian Kuai Le!

The smell of freshly peeled mandarin oranges and yok gon being BBQ-ed at the roadside stalls, the scorching sun, the festive traffic jam, the noisy dong dong chiang songs blasting from shop lots, and the malls washed in red! All these spell only ONE thing! ONE thing people!!!!!

CHINESE NEW YEAR IS HERE!!!!!!!!

I love love love the last 3 days before Chinese New Year because it means Chinese New Year is coming! Hehe. But the minute the first day hit, then no fun ady, because the few days of holiday will just fly. Le sigh.

But! Let’s not damp the spirit now, shall we? :):) These are what I love about CNY…

- The oily, burnt yok gon
- The taste of bubbly Shandy lulling on my tongue
- The reunion dinner!!!
- My parents’ shady, air-conditioned house in the hot of the afternoons
- Watching often re-aired Hong Kong romantic comedies
- The sleep fest
- The fried nian gao / sweet potato sandwich
- The hakka chap choy dish (must be eaten with chilli sauce!) done to perfection by my grandma on the first day of CNY!
- Ang pau
- The smuggled-in McD meals on the first day when we’re supposed to be an one-day-vegetarian. Shhhh.

Ooo! Fun!!!! :D

Have yourself a great, great, GREAT CNY holiday ok????

*is excited like a can of shaken cola - gonna explode soon!!!!*
